The
University of Lagos stood still as it bid farewell to its 10th
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adetokunbo Sofoluwe, who was buried at the
Ikoyi cemetery on Thursday.
In the early morning of Thursday, the remains of Sofoluwe, a Computer
Science professor was opened at the Spots Centre for students, staff
and colleagues to pay their last respects.
Sofoluwe died of heart attack on May 12.
Many of the staff and students wept profusely as they beheld, for the
last time, their former vice-chancellor, who lay motionless in his
casket and decked in academic gown.
Aside members of the university community, friends and well wishers
from all walks of life flocked the All Saints Church, Yaba to give a
befitting funeral for the late professor.
Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola and his Ekiti State counterpart Dr. Kayode Fayemi led the roll call of dignitaries.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Prof.
Amos Utuama (SAN); a former minister of Petroleum Resources, Donald
Etiebet; and Dr. Sunny Kuku
